Stage 2: Draft Plan

South Dublin County Council published the Draft County Development Plan 2016-2022 in July 2015, which marked the beginning of Stage 2 of the Plan preparation process.

Submissions and observation were received on the Draft Plan and the Chief Executive prepared a report on the submissions. The Elected Members finished considering the report at a Special Council Meeting on Friday February 5th 2016 and agreed the proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Plan.

The public consultation on the proposed Material Alterations commenced on Thursday 25th February 2016 and initiated Stage 3 of the plan making process. 


About Stage 2 - Draft Plan

The publication of the Draft County Development Plan 2016-2022 represented a comprehensive vision for the future of South Dublin County. The County is in a strong position to increase its share of growth in the Dublin Region, to progress the development of sustainable communities and to offer a high quality environment, to make South Dublin County the best possible place in which to live, work and do business.

South Dublin County Council carried out public consultation between Monday 13th July and Thursday 24th September 2015 including a number of Public Information Sessions organised across the County. 

The Chief Executive prepared a report on the submissions received for the consideration of the Elected Members. The Chief Executive circulated his report to the Elected Members and the Elected Members finalised consideration of the Report at the Special Council Meeting on Friday February 5th 2016.

The Chief Execuitve has prepared the proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Plan for public consultation. The public consultation on the Material Alterations commenced on Thursday 25th February 2016. (see Stage 3

Variation No. 4 and No.5 Made

On 9th December 2019, South Dublin County Council made Variations to the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022 in accordance with the recommendations in the Chief Executive's Report. The variations are effective from December 8th 2019.

Public Consultation on Proposed Variation No.4 & No.5

On 7th October 2019, public consultation commenced on Proposed Variation No. 4 – Alignment with Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES) and Proposed Variation No.5 - Outdoor Advertising. Written submissions or observations can be made in writing to the SEO, Land Use Planning and Transportation Dept, South Dublin County Council, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24 or online at SDCC Consultation Portal no later than 4th November 2019.

Variation No.3 to South Dublin County Development Plan 2016-2022

Variation to South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022

On May 7th 2019, South Dublin County Council made a Variation to the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022. This variation is effective from May 7th 2019 and includes for a zoning amendment to lands at Naas Road/ Ballymount and a revised text to Specific Local Objective CS6 SLO 1.
